Clinical Sample Processing

Clinical Sample Processing

BIOMEX is not only offering customized human biosample tissue procurement services, but we are also able to help with working on your biomarkers of interest in samples and in tissues retrieved from our extensive archive.

Our experts are qualified in applying single analyte and multiplex approaches covering a broad spectrum of techniques and platforms. Besides technical expertise, we can support you with our insight into disease areas and clinical as well as research and development and validation applications. Due to our experience in validation studies, we cannot only offer application of standard biomarker assays, we are also able to help you with the validation of new and proprietary biomarkers.

Global studies, complex diseases, and syndromes as well as rare diseases require access to an international network of clinical sites that can help with patient samples and related data. BIOMEX has a global network of sites with the benefit of additional expert knowledge that can be provided by participating clinicians at those sites. This will help you in to foster your translational and individualized medicine biomarker projects.

Pathology/Clinical Data:
Methods: Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence, cfDNA, AI-related services, Tissue Microarrays

General histology services

BIOMEX supports your projects in providing services such as paraffin embedding of formalin-fixed tissues (FFPE) and cutting of sections from fresh or from existing archived blocks. Sections can be prepared in different formats like curls placed in tubes or preparation on glass slides including simple staining or more complex tagging for use in e.g., antibody-based techniques. These services can further be complemented by our digital pathology capabilities.

Like FFPE tissues, we are also able to prepare fresh and fresh-frozen tissues that we either receive directly from our specialized clinical partner sites or get from our growing archive of fresh-frozen tissues.

Clinical Histopathology

BIOMEX pathology experts mirror clinical histopathology by additionally reviewing of the tissues for research and development purposes. This is done on specimens from our own large tissue archive but is also offered for samples provided by our customers from other sources.

For your projects, we provide histological examination of all specimens and can support you with our expertise in all diagnostic indications, molecular and clinical pathology, biomarker analysis, and case annotation for digital pathology.

We are covered by a Europe-wide network of pathologists and pathological facilities to process your requests quickly and reliably.

Digital Pathology: More than Scanning & Image Analysis of Histology Slides

BIOMEX is using high-end digital scanning and analysis systems that is used both for characterization of our own tissue inventory but can also be offered for review of cases provided by customers within service projects.

We can cover the challenges of Immunophenotyping with our expertise in Scanning and Image Analysis of histology slides. Digital scans in combination with special stains or within multiplexed biomarker studies support our customers’ research and development for the benefit of translational science and precision medicine.

As we have access to multiple samples from large resections or complete organ dissections, we can provide biomarker information not only in the microenvironment of the affected tissue area but also in a more spatial resolution in diseased organs.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Immunofluorescence (IF) services for research and biomarker applications

BIOMEX is equipped and set-up to apply standard research histology as well as custom protocols to provide a wide range of different protein biomarker testing panels. The immunostains are applicable on diseased human tissue, on control material and can be used with samples selected from our own archive or on tissues provided by customers.

In addition, IF methods are offered to widen the range of accessible biomarkers beyond proteins to glycans or small biological or non-biological molecules.
