In June 2018, a peer-reviewed study investigating Typhi Vi IgG antibodies as a measure of adaptive immunity in immunodeficiency research utilised serum samples collected through BIOMEX donor centres in Germany.
The study analysed 215 well-characterised blood donor serum samples, collected with informed consent and ethical approval (IRB no. 05142). Donors were stringently screened to exclude recurrent infections or inflammation, with C-reactive protein concentrations below 10 mg/L.
As the cohort consisted of Typhim Vi®–naïve individuals, these samples enabled the establishment of baseline Typhi Vi IgG antibody concentrations in a healthy population—creating a reference that continues to support immunological research and clinical interpretation today.
More than six years later, this publication remains a strong example of how high-quality, ethically sourced human biospecimens from BIOMEX contribute to durable and reproducible science.
